30 SEPTEMBER 2013

If cash could speak you just wonder what tale it would tell.  Who's pocket has it been in, what has it been used to buy, how many times it has changed hands......oh toooo deep!

29 SEPTEMBER 2013

This is the mode of transport for the next 5 days.  Why did the car rental man call it Fiona?

28 SEPTEMBER 2013

27 SEPTEMBER 2013

How much fun is there sliding down a chute in the garden....just look at the smile if you have any doubt.

One of the office blocks at Bramshill......now where have I seen that name recently?  Oh yes that's our new arrival grandchild number 4 - Rowan Pirie.

25 SEPTEMBER 2013

It does what it says on the wall.  It's a door and it faces north.  The north door on the old mansion.

24 SEPTEMBER 2013

After a glorious day yesterday, the fog has rolled in today.  The executive lounge at Aberdeen Airport is really busy (and they've run out of beer) as most flights have been delayed.  I have an additional 45 minutes to push in on unlimited tomato juice!

23 SEPTEMBER 2013

There were three in the bed!  Matthew, Lewis and Ruby had a sleep over last night, but we got a long lie....till 7am.

20 SEPTEMBER 2013

Grandchild number 4 was born today at 1.15pm.  Our third grandson weighed in at a whopping 9lb and 1/2 ounce.  He is a wee cracker...well done Bex and Brian a brother for Ruby.  Surely a great excuse for a glass of bubbly.....cheers.

19 SEPTEMBER 2013

Spent the day at the Portsmouth Naval Base looking at Nelson and the Battle of Trafalgar as a management exercise.  The tour of his ship HMS Victory is a real eye opener.

18 SEPTEMBER 2013

The stained glass windows that depict the royal coats of arms in the great hall at Bramshill.  Absolutely beautiful when the sun shines through them.

Tuesday, 17 September 2013

17 SEPTEMBER 2013

It's rutting time for the white stags of Bramshill.  The estate has one of only a handful of white deer herds in England and today three of the big guys with impressive antlers had a nosey around the back of the terrace.

16 SEPTEMBER 2013

Sitting in class and watching big Colin deliver a lecture to my students...I taught him all he knows!

14 SEPTEMBER 2013

After a good nights sleep, a warm shower and a nice breakfast, there is nothing better than catching up with world affairs and how my shares are faring!

Friday, 13 September 2013

13 SEPTEMBER 2013

Up to the caravan tonight with Lewis.  Within 10 minutes all the toys and games were out.  Nothing better than a game of Wobbly Chef!

Thursday, 12 September 2013

12 SEPTEMBER 2013

Looking out from the classroom across the meadow.  Usually a herd of white deer can be seen feeding here but of course the day I take a photo is their day off.

Wednesday, 11 September 2013

11 SEPTEMBER 2013

I have heard of Zebra Crossings and Pelican Crossings but a Duck Crossing is a new one on me.  Expect to see this sign in the highway code soon.

Tuesday, 10 September 2013

10 SEPTEMBER 2013

This used to be the main entrance to Bramshill, when it was the resting place for the King when making his way from Windsor to Portsmouth.  Quite an impressive entrance with a couple of nice gardens.

Monday, 9 September 2013

9 SEPTEMBER 2013

The great dining room at Bramshill House.  The coats of arms of local barons adorn the walls.  A very impressive, and allegedly haunted, room.

Sunday, 8 September 2013

8 SEPTEMBER 2013

Going to be a bumper crop of plums this year.  Loads of plum crumble and plum chutney...yum!

Saturday, 7 September 2013

7 SEPTEMBER 2013

It's september and only now does the sunflower decide to make an appearance.  Never mind it does make me smile.

Friday, 6 September 2013

6 SEPTEMBER 2013

It's Friday and it is 1.30pm.  This must be Heathrow.  Oh yes it is....the flight to Aberdeen is showing a 20 minute delay.

Thursday, 5 September 2013

5 SEPTEMBER 2013

It might only be a little acorn BUT from small acorns mighty oak trees grow.

Wednesday, 4 September 2013

4 SEPTEMBER 2013

A beautiful day down at Bramshill.  With very few clouds in the sky and summer temperatures it was nice to wander round the grounds of the College at lunch time.

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

3 SEPTEMBER 2013

7 O'clock and it is as if a signal has been given, all the geese on the top lake take off together to head for their nests.  Loads of splashing and squawking and off they go.

Monday, 2 September 2013

2 SEPTEMBER 2013

Just arrived at Bramshill and the gods are reminding me of Scotland again...oh no they're not... Its just vapour trails of Heathrow planes.

Sunday, 1 September 2013

1 SEPTEMBER 2013

Off to Willie's 80th birthday dinner at the clover leaf.  Thought the candles were flares the smoke and heat coming out of them.  As the barman said, "Just as well we didn't put on one for each year!!!!"
